Holy smokes! We survived.
It was not always easy, but I can 100% say it was worth it.
Stu and I kicked off our weight-loss journey by going extreme. Whole 30 was the kick in the pants we needed. I can honestly say that if we hadn't gone through this, my mindset would not have changed enough for me to make major, life changing and permanent steps I need to.
Let's recap a bit. Whole 30 is a 30-day program where you cut out EVERYTHING unhealthy. The most drastic and hardest is sugar. Sugar is in everything. Seriously. Until you start reading labels all the time, you will not fully comprehend how sugar has made its way into your diet.
Sugar was what I was most afraid of. Not going to lie. I like sweets. A lot. I like dairy. Who doesn't like cheese? I used to consume a great deal of yogurt. I put cheese on anything I could. And my stomach paid the price... I have looked pregnant for the last several years. (meh)
Something had to give.
I learned a lot through this process. I learned that, although cheese is yummy, I do not need it on anything. I learned that Stu has stronger will power than I do. If not for him, I would have given up WAY too early. I learned that I can pick foods appropriately when we eat out. I learned to make lots of new and delicious foods at home. I learned that men lose weight WAY more easily than women. <-- ok, I already knew that. But it didn't make it any easier to see Stu literally shrink in front of me, while I stayed relatively the same size.
Enough blabber. I know what you REALLY want to know. Did we lose any pounds? Well, yes.
And the second question you probably have is now what? Are we going back to eating junk? No way! We will be eating mostly Whole 30 and Paleo meals with the occasional splurge. Wish us luck. We still have a ways to go.

Not A ChefI like to cook, but I am no chef. I don't have the vision to create masterpieces from scratch. I am excellent at following recipes and tweaking them to fit my pantry or family. And I have a great collection of recipes to share. Categories
