Thunder

Oh man, I love this song. I've been a tad obsessed with it this week.

Reagan has been navigating awkward social situations at school lately. She's a smarty, like VERY intelligent. And the entire class knows it. Sometimes she feels singled out for it. And it makes her uncomfortable. I have been telling her to just be her. She can't be anyone else, just do you babe. It will all pay off later...

Thunder, by Imagine Dragons, is perfect. We were singing and dancing to it on the way home from gymnastics. I hope the lyrics will sink in and permeate. (Lyrics and song below)

My kids love music. It surrounds us. The kids play DJ in the car by choosing songs. We have dance parties at night.

I read somewhere when a person is happy, the beat and melody take center stage and when a person is sad, the lyrics stand out. That was interesting to me. It is probably generally true... Let's be real, some catchy, popular songs have the most idiotic lyrics. Lyrics have always been important to me, perhaps it's the writer in me.
A while ago it dawned on me that my kids pay close attention to lyrics too. We have lengthy conversations about some songs and their meanings.

So I have decided to share some of my favorite music lyrics and the lessons we can take away from them.
I truly believe it (sometimes) takes a village, so if you have any lyrical suggestions, I am all ears.
We get our music from all sorts of places. iTunes is a great place... so you could go that route. Or, you can check out the Amazon Music on Echo. We use it. Alexa fills the house with an assortment of music.
