This summer brought many changes to our household and the way we do business.
As you know by now, I am 15 weeks pregnant with our 3rd Stu. We could not be more excited about it (extra credit for you if you read that like Chandler Bing). The first trimester was rough. Really difficult. I kid you not, I spent almost the entire month of June in bed. My body was utterly drained. I have never experienced that kind of exhaustion. I survived on saltines and peppermint candies and naps. My husband picked up the household slack (he's never more attractive than when he's doing laundry, cleaning the house, and cooking for the kids). The monsters didn't seem to mind my daily afternoon snoozing... I think Riley was just happy I wasn't yelling at him to put down the iPad.
I am happy to be back in the land of the living.
New School Year
We decided to pull Reagan and Riley out of public school (again) and have opted for virtual school/homeschool. Reagan did most of her 3rd grade year as a student at Florida Virtual School (FLVS). And we LOVED it. Riley had about a month of FLVS when we moved into our current house. Virtual/Homeschool is not for everyone. But it works well for us.
A huge contributing factor to our decision was Riley's food allergies. I was not comfortable with the school last year. Plus my office is 45+ minutes away from the school. If there was ever an issue, I would not make it in time... and that terrified me.
We did consider leaving Reagan in public school, more for the social aspect than an academic one. But ultimately she wanted to be in control of her education. So she is joining Riley at home. I'm not worried about her. Reagan loves to learn.
But the baby ultimately made the decision for us. My doctors and the hospital we are planning to deliver in are about 35-45 minutes from our house. It will be easier (I think) for me to have the older kids at the doc with me, rather than worrying about having to get back in time to pick them up from school.
In the words of Eminem, maybe "I am nuts for real, but I'm ok with that." All I know is that I am super excited for this year and all the craziness it is going to bring. Wish us luck!
My oldest child, Reagan, is 12, Riley is 10 and Remy is 1. Everyday is a crazy day in the life of the Stus!
