The Big Game

11/29/2016

My Gator-loving husband has had the kids on his side for many years. I have been unsuccessful in my attempts to change their football fanhood. Buddy has talked the most smack this year. So, he and I made a little wager (I already had one with Stu, I'll share that in a bit).

Buddy agreed to wear an FSU shirt to church on Sunday morning if the Seminoles won the game. And if the Gators pulled it off, I agreed to wear Stu's obnoxious Gator PJ pants to church.

So on the morning of the big game, I went out to Target. It is the highlight of my week if I get the chance to push a red cart, sans-children, Starbucks in hand, with the husband's blessing. (Ok, he didn't totally "bless" my trip, but he knew I was going and that's close enough.) I was on a mission to find FSU attire for the entire family. I have several pieces, but the kids have refused to wear Garnet and Gold for years, so they don't have any.

Rivalry Week

It's the time of year when my Facebook feed fills up with all the #thankful for posts or #blessed posts. I scroll through friends sharing their love. I read the grateful challenges, where you're supposed to post daily about things you are happy to have. I see the profile pictures have been changed to have "Thankful for us" or something to that effect stamped on them.

All that's awesome. Really.

I, too, feel #blessed.

But, for us, this week is more about smack-talk. You see, it's rivalry week. My Florida State Seminoles will be whooping Stu's Florida Gators on Saturday night.
