Stus Go Camping

I like the idea of camping. I think.

I like the idea of glamping... I could never tent-camp. I know that about myself. But there are some really incredible RVs with all the creature-comforts of home available. Stu and I toyed with the idea of RV living while traveling the country. The only hang up there is income.

Anyway, back to the present. My brother- and sister-in-law have a hard pop-up trailer. And they have been kind enough to let us borrow it from time to time.

Before we take it out for a destination vacation, we decided to do a trial run close to home.

We booked a spot at the Seven Points Campground.  You can read more about the campsite here.

Our trial run was one night. And it was quite the learning experience.
We packed up after school on a Friday. The campsite is not too far from our house, so we planned to be there for dinner.

It took longer than I was expecting to get all hitched up and ready to go. That gave me plenty of time to take fun pics and bug the kids.

Once we got to the campgrounds, the kids perked up. Our spot was amazing! The view of the lake was stunning. It was incredible to see something so beautiful so close to the big city.

Reagan took care of Remy while Stu and I set up the camper. Riley stayed out of the way and played on his iPad.

Everyone melted pretty much right away. It was hot. Setting everything up was mildly exhausting. Then the hangries set in. The charcoal I bought was not the instant hot kind, so the burgers were going to take a while. The spiders came out to visit in full force - I've never seen so many and so many different species of spider! Wow! The kids freaked out with each stinkbug discovered inside the RV.

It was an adventure for sure.

It's all good though. Once we ate, things calmed down. I know now to bring subs (or something ready-to-eat for the arrival meal). The big kids stretched out on the front bed, set up the TV, watched Netflix and fell asleep without much grumbling.

I rocked Remy to sleep, and he snuggled in next to us on the back bed.
The next morning, we ate and packed things up. Just like that, our trip was over. I would do it again for sure. Although it'd be nice to go when it's chilly.
