It's been a while since I have really blogged and posted. I have thought about it... I just haven't done it.
I don't know if it is some kind of strange nesting thing, but I've had this strong desire to really keep things private lately. As someone who has been writing about and sharing my life for almost 8 years now, the privacy thing seems out of character. When I think about potentially giving up the blog, I almost hyperventilate. I love this thing. This website has been a labor of crazy love and obsession for years. I don't know who's reading it, but I know someone is. Instagram has been my easy, go-to posting spot for the last several months. It's kept fairly up-to-date, although I never post live. In any case, I think now would be a lovely time to quickly review the past few months and catch you up on the Adventures of the StuCrew. Third Trimester and Bumping Along
Homeschool & Doctor's Appointments
We pulled the monsters out of public school over the summer. The plan had been to do FLVS, but a few weeks in, we were so overwhelmed by the amount of busywork that I pulled them out of that too. A few years ago, when we did FLVS the first time, it was great. It worked for us then because I had no idea what to do with Reagan. The decision, at that time, to start homeschooling her was so spur of the moment. So it was nice to have the online school's support and curriculum direction.
This year though, it just wasn't working for us. FLVS added WAY more work into the Flex Program (which is supposed to be part time, a supplement to what you are working on at home). It was stressing Reagan out so much. She was "behind" from pretty much the first day. After venting my frustration to a homeschool mom friend, she suggested dropping out and doing our own thing. I spent about a week researching, discussing it with Stu, praying, thinking, second guessing myself. I ultimately decided we could go rogue - at least this year.
So far, things seem to be going well. We are having fun. In short, we read a lot, write a bit, work through math skills, rotate through science, history and art.
It feels like when we are not schooling, we are at the doc's office. Most of the time, the appointments have been prego-related. But we have had the occasional kid doc visit.
So basically, that's what has been going on in our world. Exciting, right? I have a sneaking suspicion that things will get exponentially more entertaining in January.
