Easter Recap

As you know, we kicked spring break off on the tail-end of Rea's hospital stay. Even when she came home, we spent the first few days hanging in the house together. It was nice to have quiet family time after three weeks of sick chaos.

Toward the end of the week, we needed to kick our butts into Easter Overdrive. We decided to paint our eggs this year instead of the usual egg-dye junk. I cannot take credit for this idea. It was inspired by Pinterest. We went to Michael's and bought paint and brushes. I put a plastic tablecloth down to keep our mess contained. And we used super high-tech paper plates as drying racks - the paint we bought was amazing! It didn't take long at all to dry.

Egg Decorating

Easter Festivities Continue

Egg decorating was Friday afternoon. After Daddy came home from work, we stuffed the plastic eggs with candy. And with that, the kids were officially ready for Easter! (Mommy, not so much.)

Saturday was the busiest day we had all week. And it was wonderful. The morning began with the kids kicking butt in karate. A quick wardrobe change and we were off to an Easter party at a friend's house. The party was fabulous. I still can't believe what Whitney was able to pull off less than 24 hours after returning to FL from vacation. Really, great party. The kids ran off, found a bunch of eggs, played with their friends, attacked the snow cone truck.

The Easter Bunny did make an appearance. But my kids would not sit for a picture. When I asked, both said no and ran off. I fear we are coming to the end of magical holiday creatures. When she woke up that morning, Rea asked me when I was going to hide the eggs. I couldn't tell if she knew or was fishing for my confirmation. I told her I had no idea what she was talking about - then I cried in my room, my kids are growing up too fast!

Easter Sunday morning was rushed, as usual. This year, the Bunny had to hide the eggs in the house (boring) because the front yard was still soaked from all of the rain a few days prior. The pool deck and patio were out because we are under construction back there. Oh well, the kids thought it was a hoot and found all the eggs in less than 3 minutes. They loved their baskets - Each got 3 new bathing suits (a staple in Florida Easter baskets).

Rea was most excited about going to church. She had been counting down all week to this Sunday morning. It was the morning she would finally get to hold baby Brynn. Brynn and her Mommy have been in town for a while, but we've all had such yucky germs, the Stu monsters (and Shane) were ordered to stay away from her. But Rea is ok now, and she could not have been happier. I think she held Brynn most of the service.
At the end of the night, Buddy told me this was his "best Easter ever in [his] life." So, I will take that as a win.

Bring on April - and Shane's birthday!
