Obviously my lack of posting on here shows how little my world revolves around my fitness life. Or really, lack of life.
But I have been trying to train my brain to care. And think about how much I am moving around each day. There are good days, where my Fitbit will vibrate and congratulate me. And there are sluggish days where it spends more time yelling at me to move. Most of the time, I fall somewhere in the middle. My daily step goal is 12,000. Below is how my October looked.

The time for action is now. I'm done talking, wishing, hoping...
The Whole 30 kicked me into gear. It was the perfect boost for me. Although, after looking at pictures of me from ourbig family vacation, I knew without a doubt something had to be done. I looked as though I'd been retaining water for decades. Ugh. A big, bloated blob.
In August (2016), I signed up for the Star Wars 5K and 10K. And I signed Rea up to do the 5K with me.
I had no idea then that I'd be closing on a house just a few days prior to the race. Or that I would be moving into said house on the same weekend of these races. But, that is the risk you take when you sign up for a RunDisney race. They sell out fast (like within 10 minutes) and you cannot defer for any reason. Oh well, c'est la vie.
Another month down.
I was going strong and steady in the early part of the month. But I got derailed again. After this hurricane blows by, I will be back out pounding the pavement.
Oy - I am late getting this thing up.
Truthfully, I didn't want to post it at all. It's not impressive. It's almost embarrassingly crappy. But, I need the accountability, even if it is me posting to no one.
I set out to start running again. I should preface this by saying I am a TERRIBLE runner. Like, so bad the term "runner" is nearly inappropriate. Nonetheless, I get my fat butt out there, smack the pavement with my tired legs and feet, pant and chant with each passing block.
I signed up to run the Disney Star Wars Dark Side 5K (with Rea) and 10K with my sister. That gives me till April to be able to handle 10 kilometers at a pace better then 16 minutes/mile. Doable goal. Killer goal. But I need to do more than that. I need to pushed harder. Two races that are more than 6 months away are not enough. So, I think I will post my monthly "runs." When I say "run," right now I mean sad combination of walk/run, favoring the walk.
I started my running life again the day the monsters went back to school. And I was successful for exactly one week. Then I became quite ill. And that killed my August stats. 3 runs. Not even 6 total miles. Ugh.
Wish me luck! I need it.
Well, it's August 15. I told you I would journey back into the running world today. And since it's on the internet, it must be true.
After I dropped the buggers off to school, I set out on my hellish 2 mile journey. And really, there is no other clean, non-cussy way to describe my run this morning.
I went immediately after dropping the kids off at school because I thought it would be cooler... huh. The humidity was 91% and the real feel temp was 95! And I did not feel that wonderful ocean breeze even a little. It was miserable.
But, the important thing is that I was out there. Pounding the pavement. Sweating out the fat. And it felt good. I used the Couch to 5K app again. I am just starting from the beginning. I have not run since May. So, I was not expecting much. Today's run was a combo run/walk in intervals of 60sec/90sec (respectively) for 20 minutes. And a 5-minute warm up and 5-minute cool down. I had an additional 4 minutes because I did not turn around when I hit the halfway mark. My additional 4 minutes were spent cursing the ground, my legs, the weather, the distance to the house. It was so hot, at 1.5 miles I nearly threw up. That was fun.
Oh my. It's happening. I signed up for the Star Wars 10K. I am SO excited. Jackie and Meghan are going to be running as well.
I also signed Rea and I up for the Star Wars 5K the day before. Should be fun. I am so happy that Rea is going to run with me. Now, I have no choice but to start training and get my fat butt back in shape. Wish me luck. I will need it. |
