Elf on the Shelf

Elvis lives! Well, Elvis our scout elf anyway.

I absolutely LOVE this Christmas tradition. As I plan for his imminent return, I thought I'd look back at when our elf came to live with us.

Special Delivery

One day after school, there was a strange package on our front stoop waiting... What could it be?

Santa used a computer, printer and scrapbook paper to make it. As you can see, Rea was quite thrilled to receive something from the Big Man before December 25th!

I have since had to explain that not everyone receives their Elf via personal delivery. Santa has stationed Elves at Target (and other stores) for people to buy if they don't get one in the mail.

Elvis Spottings!

Admittedly I love the Elf, but am not super creative. And sometimes I am downright too tired to remember him. Below are some of the places he's popped up in our house.
Picture
He usually makes an appearance in the Christmas tree. Here he actually put the snowman topper on - It was not on the tree when the little guys went to bed.

Pretty sure this was Stu's brainchild... Playing peek-a-boo with the kids from behind a curtain.
Picture
I'm almost positive this was "Oh crap! I forgot to move the Elf! Quick! Stick him behind the TV."
Picture
Seriously, how lazy is this? Although I have to say... The monsters LOVE getting notes from Elvis.

Flying back and forth from the North Pole can really make an Elf hungry!

Little stinker hung out in Mommy's coffee mug. I really have no one to blame but myself.

Don't forget to bring your elf on your holiday travels! Elvis surprised the kids by showing up in our golf cart at Disney. He wanted to go see all the holiday lights too!
Picture
it was this Christmas (when we spent it in Disney with my parents) that we decided Elvis needed bones. He was too hard to pose as a limp elf. So on the off season, he underwent full bone-growth surgery. Translation: My dad inserted thick wire into his limbs and back.

Elvis typically appears on Thanksgiving night. Last year, when we were eating at Grammie's house, Elvis came in and left a surprise upstairs. ---->

He changed the sheets on both kids' beds to Elf on the Shelf sheets (from Pottery Barn, click on this photo for the link) and jammies!

Now that Elvis has bendable limbs, the sky's the limit! Well, at least when he's playing with airplane toys.

Elvis and Santa were doing a bit of online shopping one year. If you are going to order gifts, make sure to join Ebates first - it is the only way I will shop online. I love getting big discounts and some of my money back. Click on this picture to sign up. It's totally worth it.

Advent calendars are so fun. My son has food allergies, so I don't like to get the chocolate ones. Elvis found these cool things from Playmobil. Each day they open it and get a piece. By Christmas Eve, they have a complete scene. Off to the right is a link to snag your own Advent calendar. You're welcome.

Here's a close up of the note Elvis left with the calendars.

Elvis and Santa are partners in crime at our house. Here they are having a relaxing time under the tree.

Sometimes we get booboos. And so does our Elf. Rea spent one night in the ER and this is what Elvis left the next morning. Apparently he was injured that night as well.

Our Elf always leaves a goodbye note for the kids to find on Christmas morning.

Even Elvis loves to drink chocolate milk in the morning.

Did you forget to move the Elf? Here are some pretty fantastic reasons your elf did not move.

I hope this helped get your creative juices flowing. Happy Elfing! And please share links to more great ideas or pics of your Elf having fun this season.
