Before I get into the egg hunt... I must give you a tie bit of information first. Immediately after school on Friday, I dropped both kids off at my mother in-law's house. They spent the night. Both kids asked me to pack their stuff - this is unusual. Typically, both Stu monsters like to control their outfits and suitcases. But, it did not bother me. I selected the clothes, threw all of their stuff in a bag, and off they went.
The Rockin' Egg Hunt
Our church hosted its first egg hunt. And we kicked it up a notch by adding painted rocks to the hunt. Hence the name - it was a rock and egg hunt. Clever, right? I was not the genius behind it.
The day started out a bit rocky for us. And I was fearful the event was going to be a bust for the Stus.
Rea's feet were bothering her. I think she might have an allergy to some of the grass in the churchyard. She was complaining about EVERYTHING... I packed the wrong jeans for her. I did not pack her sneakers (which she never wears), only sandals. I had no stray socks hanging out in my car. Our friends had not arrived, which was (of course) somehow my fault. She was bored (my least favorite word EVER).
Buddy was content to jump in the bounce house while his sister complained about life. Then another kid got out of the bounce house and threw up all over Bud's shoes... Awesome. Stu washed them off with the hose. But Buddy would NOT wear them now. Bleh. Luckily I did have his school sneakers in the car since he'd worn them to his Grandma's house. This, of course, set Rea off again.
It all turned out ok. Rea chilled when her friends arrived.
We had a wonderful time meeting new people. My favorite part was meeting Baby C. We ADORE her. I cannot believe it has taken nearly 5 months to meet her. Rea fell in love instantly. And by the end of the day, she was fighting me for snuggle-time. The bros were having a blast - they ran around, played frisbee, bounced a bunch, took stock of their eggs and rocks, laughed a LOT.
It was an incredible event! Lea, you did an amazing job. I hope we are able to host many more of these.
There is little I like more than a holiday! Something about the energy of the day makes me giddy.
