One of my BFFs, who suffers from the same ailment as I do (I call is Obsessive Vacation Planning Disorder, or OVPD) was over the other day. Actually, I don't remember when exactly we started planning Halloween season, it may have been a week or so ago. We were discussing Halloween and Disney.
It seems I can't go on Facebook without seeing at least 70% of my friends off on some exotic and amazing end-of-summer-hooray-vacay. And it's kind of bumming me out. That old adage "Keeping up with the Joneses" has become more than just a cliche saying thanks to social media.
Now I don't want to go on vacation because my friends are doing it. Or because I think being like all my globe-trotting friends will somehow validate my self-worth. Nope. None of that. I want to go away and stay in a hotel because I like to. Simple as that.
And the place I most like to go? Duh, Disney.
If you know me, or follow any of my writings, you know I never really grew up. And I never got over the excitement of being on Disney Property. Turning onto the Disney Driveway instantly makes me feel like I don't have a care in the world. I feel 10 pounds lighter, 70% less stressed and 20 years younger. I LOVE IT!
My second favorite thing in the world is Halloween. The past two years we hosted a pretty amazing party and trick or treat fest at our house (Stu Crew Boo Fest), and they were amazing. But we've moved into a anti-trick-or-treating neighborhood. So, back to the scheming with my friend.
First, I weaseled my Crew an invite to go trick or treating with her (she lives in our previous 'hood). I'm already really looking forward to it.
WM and I have decided that we will be going to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. I'm not 100% sure we will be able to go together, as our schedules are a bit crazy. But, we shall see.
