I think we had a great summer. I wasn't as Pinterest-crafty as I had hoped to be... but let's get real, I would have needed a personality transplant for that to happen. This summer was chaotic. It was loud. It was hot. So stinking HOT. It was stressful. It was exciting and adventurous. And I think Stu and I (along with the monsters) are coming out of it as a stronger family unit.
Here's a basic and quick recap:
We always start the summer celebrating my day of birth. This year was a fantastic dinner with friends at my favorite local eatery (Rocco's Tacos). It was a far cry from the Gatsby themed shindig of 2014, but it was perfect. And I appreciate Stu and my BFF Genie for taking care of all the planning so I didn't have to.
Our big trip for the summer was to Charlotte, NC. Stu and I love to explore new places. And this time we dragged the monsters along. It was fantastic. We stayed in a beautiful hotel - The Ballantyne Resort. Look it up and book a room. It was gorgeous. And there is so much to do there. The kids loved the Resort; it has been noted as their favorite part of the entire trip. They never wanted to leave. (I'll write about our trip soon and insert a link here, I can't believe I haven't done that yet.)
Stu and I celebrated 9 years of wedded bliss.
Most of the summer was spent in the pool. And why not? We live in Florida. It's gorgeous here. And a bit warm. Just watch out for the afternoon storms.
Stu and Grandpa (mostly Grandpa) worked like dogs on the yard... Two trees that for years have been raining pine needles down on the pool had to go. This might be the highlight of Stu's summer.
And of course the monsters had fun at Mommy's work. There is nothing quite as fun as creating as much of a mess as possible in the frame shop. Thanks kids.
Now, for your viewing pleasure, a slideshow tribute to our summer. Enjoy!
Well kiddos. It's time to say good-bye. You're off to school to become another year smarter. Mommy and Daddy are incredibly proud of you both. We know you will have the best year yet... and you will have no trouble making lots of new friends at your new school.
