It's officially summer in south Florida. Ok technically, it's only just turned to spring, but we had maybe 5 days of lovely weather. Now it's hot. HOT. HOT. The kind of hot that hits you when you step outside. The kind of hot that makes you want to change your clothes and shower multiple times each day. The kind of hot that screams for water activities.
We Florida people love our swimming pools. Last fall we invested in a pool heater. Just because it's 90+ outside does not mean the pool is warm enough for our thin blood. The pool heater was the best idea ever. The kids (and grown ups) have spent more time in it this entire year than ever before.
My kids like to spend their free time as brainless zombies watching other kids/people play games on Youtube. Mommy does not like the idea of raising a gaggle of potatoes. So, we make the kids unplug and head outdoors. This weekend we made them play outside for at least an hour. Rea was happy to play around in the pool.
Buddy wanted nothing to do with any of it. On Saturday, he held his own protest. A Buddy-sit-in, or rather sit-out. I was impressed he stuck to his guns and never got wet.
Sunday was a different story though. Both were in the pool for a while with Daddy. I have been on antibiotics for the last few days and have had to stay out of the sun. So, I sat on the sidelines and watched.
Because both kids watch Youtube all the time, they have this interesting notion of "being famous." Both love to make videos. Sometimes when I am just trying to be a parent and record some of our life, they will look at the camera and narrate to their Youtube audience. *insert eye roll* But I was able to get this gem over the weekend:
