Race weekend! More accurately, race night!
As you know Jackie, Dad and I ran in Mickey's Jingle Jungle 5K. Since the race started at 7am, we needed to sleep on Property. We selected the Pop Century. Honestly we chose this hotel because we knew we would be offered Disney's new Magic Bands if we stayed there. And it had the added bonus for Dad of being inexpensive.
I've stayed in the All Star Resorts before, so I knew what to expect. And I think Jackie has stayed in them too. But this was a first for Dad. And even he was under-impressed.
Honestly, I am not a fan. It served its purpose. We had beds to sleep in and there is a pretty decent cafeteria on site. But past that, the Value Resorts just don't do it for me.
Dad was happy to take a picture on his birth year. And I couldn't resist snapping a photo of Michael Jackson's Thriller album for Rea. Jackie and Meghan's room was in the 1950's, and we stayed in the 90's. Dad thought it was a hoot that there was a giant Rubics Cube outside of our room (at the end of the 80's building).
Let's face it, this probably won't my last night spent in one of the cheapest priced rooms Disney has to offer. I mean, I plan to run more races. And for that, I may need simply a bed on which to sleep. Oh and in case you were wondering, the pool is heated. I'm thinking that that's probably only true for the main pool by check-in and food hub... but still, it's definitely a useful piece of information for travelers.
Overall, I give this place 2 stars. Because it's Disney. And Disney is never just 1 star.
